Student Symposiums
Extreme Risk Takers Symposium Series
The WSIA Education Foundation sponsors four Extreme Risk Takers Symposiums to educate college students about the wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry and internships and full-time opportunities offered by WSIA member firms. These events are geared towards undergraduate students studying risk management and insurance, finance or business but are open to any undergraduate student interested in learning more about the industry. Each symposium features a career fair, a networking event with professionals, and sessions on unique and emerging risks, enabling students to learn about this exciting and important segment of the insurance industry.
Symposium grants available
- For colleges with risk management and insurance programs less than five years in existence there are special grants available to support up to four students and a faculty member in attending these symposiums. The grant application will be posted here in August 2026.
- If you attend an HBCU (Historically Black College or University) or HSI (Hispanic-Serving Institution) that does not offer a risk management and/or insurance program, grants are available to support attendance at a symposium. The grant application will be posted here in August 2026.
